Pismo Beach Building Codes
The City of Pismo Beach has adopted new Building Codes effective January 1, 2026:
- 2025 California Building Code (Volumes 1 and 2)
- 2025 California Residential Code
- 2025 California Electrical Code
- 2025 California Mechanical Code
- 2025 California Plumbing Code
- 2025 California Energy Code
- 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code
- 2025 California Green Building Code
- 2025 California Historical Building Code
- 2025 California Existing Building Code
- 2024 International Property Maintenance Code
The new codes became effective January 1, 2026, and govern all projects that are submitted for plan check on or after the effective date. Permit applications that have been submitted and paid plan check fees prior to January 1, 2026, will be reviewed and permitted under the 2022 California Codes as long as the plan check has not expired.
Online Access
Online access to the California Building Codes is available at the California Building Standard Commission website. However, that resource does not include all local amendments adopted by the City of Pismo Beach. Local amendments by the city are codified in Title 15, Building and Construction, of the City of Pismo Beach Municipal Code, which establishes the construction codes applicable within the city, effective January 1, 2026. Title 15 contain the locally adopted amendments to the 2025 California Building Standards Codes and the 2024 International Property Maintenance Codes as adopted by Ordinance No. 0-2025-007
