Applying for a Permit
The City of Pismo Beach is currently accepting all submittals electronically. Please complete the appropriate application type, and submit to the Public Portal. All documents must be provided in PDF format with all plan pages in a single document, application in a separate document, and any supporting reports in another. File naming requirements and necessary plan information can be found in the Building Permit Application Checklist.
Additions: Prior to making application, the following questions should be answered:
1. Does my project change the footprint of the building by adding square footage?
2. Is there a change of use for the space?
3. Are there exterior changes being proposed?
If your answer is "Yes" to any of the above, then you will need Planning Division approval prior to submitting a Building application. Planning questions should be sent to planning@pismobeach.org.
Remodels: Fill out an application and submit to the Public Portal. Please attach a complete set of plans as a single PDF document plus any supporting information in separate PDFs. If you have any questions about fees, please call our Building Division at 805-773-7040. A plan review fee is required prior to review and a fee estimate will be provided by email once your application is processed.
Tenant improvements: Consult with the Planning Division prior to bringing in a submittal. Planning questions should be sent to planning@pismobeach.org. When you are ready to submit to the Building Division, we will require a completed application, plans, and any supporting documents in PDF format.
