The Pismo Beach Clam Festival is held on the third weekend in October each year. This two-day festival begins Saturday morning with a parade though the city streets ending in Pier Plaza where a variety of bands play throughout each day as visitors enjoy commercial and food vendors, and children enjoy free bounce houses. The Clam Chowder Cook-off is a ticketed event on the pier where one samples a variety of clam chowders from various Pismo Beach restaurants. The Kids Clam Rescue is a fun, interactive learning experience for children of all ages teaching the importance of considerate clamming.
