Overview
The Conference & Visitors Bureau (CVB) administers the City’s efforts to promote tourism to Pismo Beach, thereby enhancing the City’s General Fund revenue through Transient Occupancy Tax receipts and, to a lesser but significant extent, through Sales Tax receipts. The mission is to increase overnight visitorship and visitor expenditures, with emphasis on mid-week and off-season tourism.
The CVB is responsible for periodical and electronic media advertising in core market regions and new market areas, participation in consumer and industry trade shows, and development and maintenance of ongoing relationships with travel writers and other media representatives. The CVB is also charged with preparation of collateral materials, brochures and Visitor Guides, for distribution through the Official California Welcome Center located in the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets, as well as the city’s Downtown Visitor Information Center. The Visitor Information Center handles the responses to incoming leads that come through the CVB’s advertising efforts.
The CVB leads the Special Event Application Process, with Gordon Jackson serving as the Chairperson and Micki Salazar serving as the Administrator of the Special Events Committee. For more information or to download an application, please visit the Special Events page or contact the CVB.
